A Very Simple, Great Story! 02/25/2019
By TaosGuy&TaosGal
"The Lamp" is a sleeper. A very simple movie. No great special effects, just life.

Grief is expressed through a father who felt responsible for losing his only son. He then lost all love for himself and those around him. He felt it impossible to overcome. He was truly lost!

The meaningful part of this well done, well casted movie, was that he really never needed the "Lamp," just an opportunity to see the beauty of life through children.

Again, it is a simple movie, but one with a great message. God knows we need more movies like this in these most difficult, material times. Help is coming... Just Believe!

Highly recommended.

Heart-warming 02/25/2019
By P.M. Culpepper Jr.
A heart-warming movie which tells us that we already have the things that we would try to wish for and that the things we think we would wish for (like lots of money) really doesn't solve a lot in the end. Louis Gossett Jr. plays the wise old angel/sage which he does very well. The movie is sweet and touching. I liked it and would watch it again. But, I am not sitting here wishing I had Aladan's lamp because the movie shows that if we appreciate and apply the things we already have, we don't need 3 wishes to make life right.

Wonderfully Inspirational 10/25/2018

Wonderful inspirational story with many encouraging ideas. After reading the book, I purchased a copy for each of my daughters and one for my wife. Absolutely one of the most worthwhile stories I've read, and I find the movie to be very inspirational also.

Very good movie with good acting. Tough, but well done story. Does a great job looking at how a person feels and can make other feel. A good message of sometimes when you help others you help yourself as well.

I'm getting ready to watch this movie again for the third or fourth time. I love this movie.

Suffering from the loss of his only child, Stanley has secluded himself to a dark and lonely place. Sullen and without hope, he continues to hide from and neglect those he loves despite their attempts to reach out to him. In what seems to be the final days of their already strained marriage, his wife Lisa is presented with a strange gift; an old oil lamp from a far off land. Along with the lamp comes a mysterious messenger and and a question that causes them to search the depths of their hearts for what's truly important in life... If you could have anything you wanted, what would YOU ask for?
